Carolina is a municipality located on the northeast coast of Puerto Rico. It lies immediately east of the capital San Juan. Carolina is spread over 12 wards plus Villa Carolina (the downtown area and administrative center). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area, and home to Puerto Rico’s main airport, the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.
The city is one of Puerto Rico’s most important tourist centers with an extensive collection of hotels and inns. The real estate landscape in Carolina is a blend of single family dwellings, apartments, condos, and seasonal housing. Many of the shops, hotels, and homes make the most of the coastline, offering panoramic views of the water. Shopping centers like The Mall of San Juan round out the commercial attractions in Carolina, giving guests and locals a diverse range of entertainment, shopping, and dining venues.
Natural recreation plays a huge role in Carolina. Miles of beaches offer the perfect backdrop for activities like swimming, biking, boating, and snorkeling. Nearby walking trails make the most of the natural beauty surrounding the city’s downtown hub. Guests are drawn to the network of caves and rivers that dot the landscape, providing the opportunity to explore the natural playground that makes Carolina such a vibrant place to call home.
