The Secretary of the Labor Department, Carlos Rivera, indicated that as of July 14, almost 600,000 applications for the various unemployment programs have been received by the agency amid the pandemic.
In an interview with Noticentro al Amanecer, the official explained that the exact amount amounts to 598,000 requests received. “Every day the amount increases, additional people continue to apply,” said the official in the Wapa program.
Likewise, Rivera detailed that of that amount, 433,000 people are currently receiving unemployment payments. Meanwhile, some 98,000 applications were ineligible and work with 56,000 controversial points.
